The Carriage Lane Journal

Why Carriage Lane Publishing

There is a road in Cedar Hills, Utah, called Carriage Lane.

It is home. And over time, it has also become the place where stories, books, ideas, and projects have taken shape.

Carriage Lane Publishing grew naturally from that work.

What began with individual books has become a growing collection that reaches across several very different subjects: faith and scripture, family and legacy, liberty, children’s literature, professional writing, and fiction.

At first glance, those subjects may appear unrelated. But there is a common thread running through them.

They are about things worth preserving.

A family’s wisdom should not disappear when one generation passes.

A testimony should be shared.

A child should encounter books that teach hope, kindness, faith, and courage.

The lessons of history should not be forgotten.

A story that has lived in an author’s mind for years deserves the opportunity to become something another person can hold in his or her hands.

That is what Carriage Lane Publishing is intended to do.

Our books include works about legacy and family governance, explorations of faith and the promises of scripture, books written especially for children, reflections on liberty, and the Operation Nightglass fiction series.

The subjects are different because life is different. We are not interested in publishing books merely because another title can be added to a catalog. We are interested in books that have something meaningful to say.

Carriage Lane Publishing is also the product of learning.

Every book teaches its author something about writing. Every manuscript presents new decisions about structure, pacing, illustration, editing, design, and presentation. The process of publishing a substantial body of work has created experience that may also be useful to other writers.

For that reason, Carriage Lane may occasionally assist selected authors who have an important story, experience, professional insight, family history, or message they want to preserve in book form.

We intend to remain selective and personal.

This will not be a publishing factory.

It will be a place for thoughtful books and thoughtful people.

The Carriage Lane Journal will tell some of those stories. We will write about books in development, the ideas behind them, what we are learning about writing and publishing, events involving our books, and occasionally the deeper questions of faith, family, freedom, and legacy that inspire the work in the first place.

Carriage Lane may be a small road in Utah.

But stories have always had a way of traveling far beyond the places where they began.
